With the Great Recession creating less job security, CKR Interactive, a global leader in recruitment marketing, offers three strategies to recruit and retain quality nurses.
The free brief draws from national nursing surveys that provide insight into what nurses look for in a job. The brief dispels the notion that a rising salary is the primary factor in retaining nurses, and instead proposes cost-efficient solutions to hiring and keeping nurses as loyal employees.
“The changing job market is making it more difficult than ever to attract top nursing talent,” says CEO Curtis Rogers. “Strategies like these can make all the difference for employers looking for quality hires without adding to their budget.”
The recommendations will help to develop an effective recruitment program and to retain hired nurses. The brief stresses the importance of targeting passive candidates, a rising market alongside the popularization of social media. Other economical strategies emphasize the employer brand, making a case for flexible scheduling, location and career advancement opportunities, among others. The brief concludes by explaining that nurses want, “transparent communication between staff and management.” All of the strategies focus on employee loyalty.

Kasey Sixt, vice president of emerging media at CKR Interactive global recruitment marketing agency, will be presenting at Canada’s First Social Recruiting Seminar.
The seminar will be held on Thursday, Jan. 30, in Calgary, Canada, at the Macewan Conference & Event Centre. Attendees will listen to keynote speeches and participate in hands-on workshops designed to help them adjust recruitment practices to meet the rising popularity of social media (Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus and LinkedIn). Sixt will present “Show me! Don’t tell me! How leading-edge employers are using visual communication to engage passive candidates on Social Media” on Thursday, Jan. 30, at 11:30am. Sixt has previously spoken at a variety of conferences in the recruiting industry including the 2013 NACE Conference and Expo, NAHCR Image conferences, SHRM Talent Management and more.
“Visual storytelling on the personal, portable and social web in 2014 is a must,” says Sixt. “Every person and every organization has a compelling story to tell. The hard part is telling it visually for a mobile and social audience.”
The session will cover why it is important for organizations to have a visual and video communication strategy in 2014. Participants will learn how their organizations can enhance current employer branding/messaging by cultivating compelling video sound bites. Participants can also expect to learn how to create a strong call-to-action that will help their organization build a qualified talent pipeline.
“Spending my time in beautiful Calgary with some of the best and brightest social recruiting thought leaders is a great way to start the New Year,” says Sixt.
Visit socialrecruitingseminar.com for more information about Canada’s First Social Recruiting Seminar and registration details.
Kasey Sixt, vice president of emerging media at CKR Interactive, will be speaking at the NACE Social Media Mashup about the use of visual communication by employers on the internet.
This is the second Social Media Mashup conference of the year, the first was held in Philadelphia in January. The conference is on August 22-23, 2013, at the Hyatt in San Jose, Calif. This conference brings attendees the latest trends in social media from some of the largest leaders in the industry such as Google, eBay, Brazen Careerist and more.
Sixt has previously spoken at NACE conferences including the 2013 NACE Conference and Expo in June, but this is her first time speaking at the NACE Social Media Mashup. Sixt’s session, “Show and Tell! How Employers Use Visual Communication on the Personal, Portable Web,” will be held on Friday, August 23, 2013 from 8:30 am to 9:30 am.
Sixt’s session will dive into the world of social media as a strategy for employers to connect emotionally with potential candidates. In the past, video and compelling imagery were not common to find online. But now, these tools are used as a window into the employer’s world, giving candidates a first-hand look at an organization, inspiring job seekers to take action.
“Compelling and sharable visual content offers a window into any organization's inner world and the click-throughs on photos and video content are often much higher than text,” says Sixt.
If you will be attending the NACE Social Media Mashup, you can find out more information about Kasey’s session at www.naceweb.org.

In today’s ever-changing world of recruitment marketing, one variable remains constant: your employment website. No matter the sourcing channel, be it social or traditional media, referrals, emails, SEO, SEM or even snail mail, your career site is and will remain the primary destination for candidates as they evaluate your organization as an employer. Thus, it has the ability to make – or break – your recruitment marketing outcomes.
President/CEO Curtis Rogers and Director of Interactive Services Brandon Spencer of the global recruitment marketing agency CKR Interactive will be sharing insight on how employers can get the most out of their career site during HR.com’s webcast, “More than a Pretty Picture.” The session will demonstrate the profound effect the look and user interface (UI) have on recruiting efforts by walking attendees through employment website best practices and innovations, from the very basics of quick search job functionality to rich and social media integrations. Participants will come away with a thorough understanding of how they can increase the number of quality applicants they attract by improving their organization’s career site.
“Many employers unfortunately are not in the know of easy tips and tactics they can implement to create an award-winning career site that is optimized to attract top talent,” shares Spencer. “Within ongoing revisions in the SEO [search engine optimization] realm, web accessibility standards, emerging platforms, media, programming languages and frameworks, it’s becoming increasingly important for career site owners to be in the know of best practices in site development and design. Otherwise, they’re likely losing top talent to their competitors and tarnishing their employer brand and reputation online.”
At the end of this fun and informative session, participants will come away with a thorough understanding of:
- How to increase the number of quality applicants through a career site.
- Different types of career-specific websites (i.e. career sites, microsites, landing pages), and when/how they should be used.
- Best practices in career site design and SEO.
The webcast will be held on Tuesday, December 4, at 12pm PT/3pm ET. To register to attend the webcast, please visit HR.com's webcast site.
CKR Interactive was recently interviewed by premier global online employment solution provider Monster Worldwide regarding emerging trends in online recruitment strategies. The two covered topics such as career sites, how companies are using online media to build their brand, how small businesses can develop a successful online strategy that will attract both business and top candidates, and which social media activities will be most effective in recruiting top talent.
The key takeaways are that organizations should focus on utilizing a comprehensive approach to online recruitment marketing, with a mix of content sharing, video and social media. Additionally, employers should ensure that their career sites are easy-to-use and understand resources for job seekers, and not simply marketing platforms.
“Companies are now aiming to utilize online media in a comprehensive manner versus a piecemeal approach, taking into consideration placement, timing, frequency, messaging and creative used,” shared Marketing Director Skye Callan. “Every single detail has an effect on the employer’s brand and must be taken into thoughtful consideration. Furthermore, avenues such as social media are being used with a focus to strengthen the employer brand and communications with potential candidates, versus solely on recruitment.”
The interview can be referenced via the following two pages:

Jon studied at De Anza College and SDSU, and received his M.A. from the Academy of Art University.
Meaghan brings twelve years of experience developing B2B and B2C research and strategy initiatives including brand platform development and cultivation, messaging development, segment marketing, product launches, campaign planning, corporate marketing and market research to the table. Good Technology (Good), a leading mobile management and security provider headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, recently had an urgent need to fill 40 positions in less than a month. Their need for experienced candidates in mobile technology is a challenge in that the field is still fairly new. They were looking to hire in the San Francisco Bay Area, which also proposes conflict due to employers like Facebook and Google aiming to recruit the same talent.
Good hired global recruitment marketing agency CKR Interactive to develop a strategic media plan to attract top talent from this talent pool. The challenges Good faced in attracting this group included the career site’s content not specifically targeting or communicating to this niche audience.
With these issues in mind, CKR proposed to develop a microsite specifically developed to attract top talent to fill the hard-to-fill mobile development positions, and a comprehensive media plan to drive extremely targeted traffic to the microsite. The site and advertising utilized unique, eye-catching, hand-drawn creative and easy-to-use navigation. Site visitors were able to learn more about Good’s mobile development opportunities, career paths and employment benefits with ease.
“It was an absolute pleasure working with Good on this campaign, and we are very pleased with the results” shared Account Manager Christina Hild. “Good offers an amazing culture and opportunities to its employees, and we’re glad to be their partner in helping them attract the top talent best suited to them. I for one am very excited about our future projects together!”
Through the implementation of the budget-conscious media plan and microsite, CKR was able to attract over 2,000 page views and 1,400 highly-targeted, qualified potential candidates. Future plans now include CKR working with Good to redesign their career site. Further details will be shared upon launch.
The Vice President of Emerging Media at global recruitment marketing agency CKR Interactive, Kasey Sixt, will be sharing a presentation titled, “Enhancing your Employer Brand via Content Sharing – Through Video, Social Media and More”, at the upcoming RecruitingTrends’ The Recruiting Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada. From employee testimonials, “day in the life” scenarios and peer-to-peer communications series, to blogging, photo sharing and more, employers are able to share their employees’ powerful stories and experiences through content marketing as a recruitment and employer branding tool. Furthermore, smart content sharing can help employers to cut through the information clutter online, and to connect and engage with their target audience.
“The context you provide for your shared content across the social channels provides value to your talent community and better tells your story as an employer,” Kasey shared. Kasey’s presentation will provide tips and tactics for employers looking to get started with content sharing, as well as numerous examples and opportunities for group interaction.
Kasey has been an innovative leader in the recruitment, retention and employee communications realm for the past twenty years. She has produced a multitude of award-winning multimedia campaigns, interactive projects, photo shoots and videos across all industries. She also worked in the trenches of the Hollywood/independent film industry and has worked on a multitude of short and feature film projects. Her understanding of the constantly changing social surfaces and hands-on knowledge of content curation has made her a sought-after producer, speaker and employer branding consultant. Her wealth of expertise will benefit the conference’s attendees in a fun and informative way.
We're pleased to announce that CKR Interactive has been awarded WebAwards for both of the sites nominated that were designed by the agency. Independent expert judges from around the world review sites in 96 industries. The best are recognized with a WebAward which helps interactive professionals promote themselves, their companies, and their best work to the outside world. CKR’s Director of Interactive, Brandon Spencer, shared, “We love to get our clients the recognition they deserve, and it’s great getting a nod for our own site as well – we believe you must ‘walk the talk’ in order to master digital best practices, and demonstrate to clients that we truly understand how to best develop their online presence.” He adds, “While the awards are truly appreciated, what motivates us even more is our success in enabling our clients to optimize their employer brand and recruitment efforts through all means possible. We strive to be at the forefront of creative design and digital innovation in our industry, providing cutting-edge web design and interactive solutions that will make our clients’ lives easier.”

A leader in sourcing employer information to college graduates, NACE provides more than 5,200 professionals and almost 2,000 colleges and universities with the latest research and opportunities.
Kasey Sixt, vice president of social and emerging media at global recruitment marketing agency CKR Interactive, presented to a packed audience on the immense value of video in the search for top talent and provided a Knowledge Bites video that shares tips for conducting on-camera interviews for HR staffing professionals. Kasey’s 20 years of experience in recruitment marketing and video production make her an expert on the topic of on-camera interviews. In the video, she emphasizes the three most important things to remember when conducting these interviews:
- Finding the right candidate who coincides with company culture
- Having at least one close-up of the candidate
- Taking time to cultivate a sound bite
“I have such a passion for video,” Kasey notes. “And while it can be among the most powerful and engaging communication tools for today’s employers, it’s not always as easy as it looks. Some basic tips can make a huge difference in the results.”
Employee communications research firm Peer Group US, a division of CKR Interactive, has released major findings from the 2012 National Physical Therapist Survey, which explores the job perspectives and employment preferences of today’s physical therapist population.
The survey, executed in partnership with healthcare marketing firm Katon Direct, was conducted online May 8 through May 31, 2012. The two firms were motivated by a lack of existing research regarding physical therapists, such as their willingness to change jobs, preferred employer attributes, media habits and job search behaviors.
“There’s a wealth of available data regarding the physical therapist shortage and its related issues,” notes Peer Group US Director Kendra Van Nostran. “But there wasn’t much in terms of what matters to physical therapists regarding their work experience—information that is crucial to employers seeking to recruit and retain PTs.”
Among the survey’s major findings:
- A facility’s reputation and brand awareness are extremely important to physical therapists. When asked to rate the importance of a range of employer attributes, “reputation as a great place to work” and “reputation for medical excellence” earned the highest ratings, ahead of even pay and vacation.
- Very few physical therapists are actively pursuing new opportunities. In fact, only 4.1 percent of the survey respondents say they are currently looking for a new job. The majority of respondents either won’t consider a change right now or would have to be approached directly in order to consider a job change.
- Physical therapists are most likely to turn to their friends and colleagues if they were to conduct a job search. Other job search tools identified as important include the company career site and professional/trade magazines.
- In terms of staying updated on their profession, PTs still favor print resources, including Advance for Physical Therapy & Rehab Medicine, Today in PT, APTA Physical Therapy Journal and PT in Motion.
- While physical therapists are regular users of social media, they’re ambivalent about whether or not employers should reach out to them regarding job opportunities via social media.
- Several trends were identified when responses were cross tabulated by age and gender. For example, younger PTs are more open to exploring job opportunities with another employer and to rely on their colleagues and friends when searching for a job. PTs between the ages of 36 and 45 were more likely than their counterparts to be working on a part-time basis. Male PTs are more likely to be self-employed and to exhibit a greater willingness to relocate for a job.
Katon Direct Managing Director Marc Weissman observes, "The survey results reinforce Katon Direct's strategies for healthcare companies recruiting hard-to-find healthcare professionals, such as physical therapists. If you’re going to be effective in connecting with this talent, you need to focus on direct marketing and sourcing strategies.”
More than 300 physical therapists from across the country completed the survey. For additional information, please download the 2012 National Physical Therapist Survey Fact Sheet.
The National Association for Health Care Recruitment (NAHCR), in partnership with global recruitment marketing agency, CKR Interactive, is proud to announce the launch of NAHCR’s new website, www.nahcr.com.
As the healthcare recruitment resource leader, NAHCR’s website provides a variety of educational offerings for both healthcare recruitment professionals and job seekers, including articles, survey results, a Recruiter’s Handbook, recorded webinar presentations and a career center.
When NAHCR held a design contest for a new site, CKR Interactive joined other recruitment advertising agencies to submit a winning design. CKR Interactive’s award-winning interactive design team worked diligently to maintain NAHCR’s well-known branding and messaging, while enhancing the site navigation and modernizing its functionality. “We were very happy set NAHCR up with a cutting-edge website design. It was a fun project that really highlights NAHCR’s resources and benefits,” shared CKR’s Interactive Services Director, Brandon Spencer. The speakers selected to participate on this year’s panel have backgrounds that total over 105 years of experience in global business, talent acquisition, and recruiting tactics and strategies. The summit agenda will cover topics such as:
- How to best be prepared for the wave of hiring as companies come back from the financial meltdown of 2008/2009.
- Innovations other companies use to attract your own employees.
- Key strategies the experts have adopted that work.
- What can or should be done to stop playing musical chairs with top talent.
- Metrics and statistics on the global talent pool.

Global recruitment marketing agency CKR Interactive has announced the launch of three new recruitment solutions, developed to help optimize HR professionals’ recruitment efforts and ROI. This launch marks eleven years of business in the recruitment advertising realm for CKR, who celebrates its anniversary on April 1.
The new product line addresses the most common recruitment and retention pain points faced by employers today. Deployee utilizes CKR’s state-of-the-art laboratories to help employers develop employees that are the best fit for the organization, while Cloner enables them to simply clone their best employees – a sort of in-house employee referral system, if you will. The third product, ReTension, helps employers ensure that their top talent will not leave them, even if they want to.
“We’re quite proud of this product line,” shares Curtis Rogers, CKR’s CEO/President. “While it was frustrating that it took my developers this long to finish their work, I’m very happy with the outcome and I know our clients will be too.”
Sr. Interactive Project Manager, Michelle Ferreira, adds, “Project managing the installations and launches of these projects is a real nightmare, but our clients are worth it.”
Requests for the new product line have been flooding in so rapidly that the agency decided to skip the beta phase and move straight to launch. “We’ve received so many requests for these products that we have a waiting list for the next year, but we’re in the process of cloning more resources to speed up the installation process,” Rogers explained.

In an effort to get a true gauge of what is and isn’t working in the recruitment realm, global recruitment marketing agency CKR Interactive and recruiting community and intelligence leader ERE are partnering to launch a new video series, titled “Recruiting Tales and Tactics from the Trenches.”
The video series will be filmed on site at ERE’s upcoming ERE 2012 Spring Expo global recruiting event in San Diego, CA (March 28-30), and will gather insight, advice and information on winning (and losing) strategies from attendees. CAMPBELL, CA – International recruitment marketing agency CKR Interactive welcomes Emerging Media Account Strategist Christine Guardia and Senior Account Executive Celine North to the agency’s growing team. They will each play an active role in helping the agency meet a growing demand for social media and account strategy services throughout the United States.
Guardia’s notable achievements include helping launch KooDooZ, a social network designed to empower youth, and working on Jumpstart’s Read for the Record campaign, which leveraged social media to recruit thousands of people to hold local reading events around the world. Working with clients such as the Library of Congress, City of New York and Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Guardia honed her relationship management, communications and analytical skills as their information technology consultant. She recently worked with Los Angeles County to implement their talent management system, and her recruitment advertising experience dates back to when she worked for CKR Interactive CEO Curtis Rogers’ first recruitment ad agency, Rogers & Associates. She earned her MBA in Marketing and Public & Nonprofit Management at Boston University, and holds degrees in Public Relations and Public Administration from Syracuse University.
Guardia’s role at CKR Interactive is to help clients apply the latest social channels and technologies to recruitment, as well as track and analyze campaign effectiveness. Increased demand for the agency’s comprehensive suite of social media products and services led to the need to expand staff in this area, and Guardia will support Kasey Sixt, vice president of branding and social media, to deliver social media expertise. As Sixt notes, “Christine and I worked together previously, and I’m looking forward to the fresh and innovative ideas that I know she’ll bring to our growing office in Los Angeles.”
Guardia concurs, “The social web is constantly evolving, and it’s difficult for clients to determine which of the tools and platforms out there will yield the best outcomes. I look forward to filling that gap and assisting clients in differentiating between what will help them recruit and retain the best employees versus what is hype.”
North has worked in the marketing and advertising industry for more than 15 years, specializing in the recruitment niche for nearly a decade. She was responsible for significant business growth at a number of recruitment marketing agencies, including JWT, where she served as a managing director, as well as TMP and Hodes, where she served as a director of business development. North honed her relationship management, communications and marketing skills working as a recruitment and retention consultant, advising clients such as Baptist Health, University of Florida and Shands Hospital, Napa Auto Parts, MGM, Hilton Grand Vacation Club, and many others. She also worked to build the media start-up, GiftAloft, where she was recognized as an award-winning entrepreneur.

These states benefit from a mix of continued population increases, large metropolitan areas and top public and private research universities – conditions that create fertile ground for business growth.
California, home to CKR Interactive's Silicon Valley headquarters, is again the location of the most significant job growth among companies that made this year's list. Approximately 51,300 jobs were created during the past year by California-based companies, evidence that the state is still a major source of American innovation and expansion.

CKR Interactive won a Gold certificate for the "Professional Recruitment-Series" award. CAMPBELL, CA — Kasey Sixt Presents at the International Public Management Association for Human Resources.
As a recruitment advertising agency, global recruitment marketing agency CKR Interactive thrives on all employment based information. They are individuals who jump at the chance to help others and love to share their knowledge. On April 27th, CKR Interactive's very own VP of Branding, Kasey Sixt, had the opportunity to do both and share her expertise about diversity in recruitment in a presentation given at the International Public Management Association for Human Resources.
Kasey Sixt demonstrated that, as more and more unemployed prospects search for jobs, studies have proven that diversity recruitment strategies need to be at an all-time high to ensure the best talent is considering your company. Sixt delivered a great presentation that explored this topic through a fun and interactive game show-like experience, which addressed several important points including knowing your audience, assessing your market, and launching programs and initiatives to drive the best-qualified candidates to your company.
Many professionals were in attendance including Doug Detling, Human Resources Director in Oregon. He, like many others, was impressed by Sixt's presentation. "As a proponent of more focused diversity recruiting in our agency, I was intrigued by Kasey's insightful presentation in the changing composition of the workforce. It unmistakable that private employers need to hire more inclusively because there is a business case for doing so, but public agencies need to do this to better understand and deliver service to the public. The more we understand, the better we can serve. Kasey's presentation was grounded in solid data and with specific tips."
If you happened to have missed Kasey Sixt's presentation, no need to worry; CKR Interactive will be speaking at many other conferences this year. Their next presentation is June 1-3 at the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) in Dallas. Topics include, Social Media and Diversity catered to the college audience. Yes, there has been the impressive growth of products and services CKR Interactive offers, but what makes the agency what it is today is the people involved. Founder and CEO Curtis Rogers reminisces, "Ten years, and two areas to note. First, where has the time gone? Second, this is a completely different business model from when we started. From print to internet, job boards to social networking, campaigns to branding, production to development. I no longer consider us an advertising agency but a consultancy where knowledge rules. Nevertheless, what is most important over these last 10 years is that I'm having the time of my life and feel so very fortunate to be able to work with some wonderful people, both employees and clients. I think Fred and Barney can say it best:

CAMPBELL, CA — Recruitment marketing agency CKR Interactive's Craig Freitag shares his creative design expertise with local classroom.
As schools across California face severe budget cuts, fine arts programs are being cut one by one. In fact, many local schools are no longer able to provide formal art classes for its students. In response to the diminishing art programs, recruitment marketing agency CKR Interactive's EVP of Creative Services, Craig Freitag, decided to help out by volunteering to teach young students about the arts on a weekly basis.
Freitag was concerned about the void left by cutting art programs and not providing a multidimensional education for students. "Fine arts are vulnerable to budget cuts partly because children are not tested in music or art under the No Child Left Behind act," he said. "It's alarming how our children are losing out. It's such a powerful form of self expression that we simply can't leave it unexplored."
Although there is a strong support for arts within the local community, there is simply not enough school funding to maintain art programs, forcing officials to find a way to offer fine arts with limited resources. Freitag, along with other parents that hold art degrees, are volunteering to teach the basics of visual arts, from exploration of different mediums to the appreciation of art history and work.
Despite not having taught before, Freitag was not intimidated from volunteering to give back. "It's not about displaying the fine arts of teaching, but simply teaching the fine arts" Freitag explained. "I truly believe the future success of these students will be enhanced if they learn to unlock their creativity."
Freitag's contributions are another example of CKR Interactive's belief that giving back to the community is essential for a successful business. The agency often participates in charitable activities, from promoting employees to participate in fundraisers and at local nonprofit events, to providing recruitment advertising and marketing services to nonprofits at discounted rates. The agency's CEO, Curtis Rogers, volunteers much of his time as a councilperson for the city of Monte Sereno. "We've been really fortunate to have such great success as an agency and believe that it is important to give back to the community that has supported us through the years. I also encourage our employees to share their talent and time with the community, to not only give back but to enrich their own lives." Rogers states.

CAMPBELL, CA — CKR Interactive's five reasons why employee recruitment is similar to dating.
Valentine’s Day. A day filled with roses, chocolates and of course — love. Finding the right connection can be a long, frustrating road, not just for singles looking for “the one” but for employers seeking the perfect fit for their job opportunities. Fortunately, recruitment marketing agency CKR Interactive can help these employers play cupid and target the top talent they need. Similar to dating sites like Match.com and eHarmony, CKR Interactive is in the business of match-making, just from a different angle — bringing the best employers and talent together.
In order to work, a successful work match, like love, must offer compatibility. So finding the right fit is very important.
Skye Callan, CKR Interactive’s Marketing Director shares, “Finding the right person for the job is not as easy as one might think. It is like finding love; you need to get to know where to look to find candidates with the right personalities and skill sets that match your hiring needs. Both parties need to be happy, understanding and put themselves out on the line.”
CKR Interactive has been providing recruitment advertising and marketing solutions to clients around the world for nearly a decade. During this time, they’ve put together this comprehensive list of the top five reasons why recruitment and hiring is similar to dating:
- The Profile — When researching prospective dates or employees, you want to see a well branded online profile. An appealing biography will get you far in both worlds. Profiles provide an excellent resource to both daters and job seekers to show why they are the right fit.
- The Interest — When someone sparks your interest, you contact them to see if they reciprocate the feeling for you, or in the prospective employee’s case, your company.
- The Call — If both parties are interested, a phone conversation gages the next step. If everything goes well, you arrange a “date.” Phone etiquette is important for both the dater and the job seeker. Missing a call, asking if they can call you back or putting you on hold several times throughout the call aren’t going to win them any points.
- The Date — This will be the first time you meet one another in person. This acts as the initial interview to get to know each other more thoroughly. You may need a couple more “dates” to really get to know the person to ensure you make the right choice. Many people date around; employers have multiple interviews to narrow down the choices (and job seekers may line up multiple interviews, although it would benefit both the employer and job seeker to not brag about the other prospects). Both employers and daters may spend tons of money and time in attempts to attract the right match — fortunately employers can utilize recruitment marketing agencies to help them measure where they’ll get the best ROI.
- The Marriage — Finally, you find the person you like. Soon, that relationship blossoms into “love” and a union is formed, or shall we say the contract is signed. Your new employee will hopefully be a great resource for future referrals and hires… but we don’t recommend daters to attempt to emulate this.
Finding the perfect match may be difficult at times, but it doesn’t have to be impossible. There are plenty of fish in the sea, so get online and put your company out there.
CAMPBELL, CA — It is a new year and many companies are still unsure about what the 2011 economy will bring forth. Global recruitment marketing agency CKR Interactive is marching into the new year with confidence. Voted one of the fastest-growing private companies by Inc. 500 in 2009 and 2010, CKR Interactive has added two new talented members to the family, Nancy Caputo and Tania Samsonoff to enhance the agency’s recruitment advertising and marketing services to clients nationwide.
“We are very excited to add two great additions to our team. Nancy Caputo will be the Account Manager for our Florida and East Coast accounts and has more than 15 years of agency experience at [recruitment ad agency] JWT. Tania Samsonoff will be based out of our Campbell office as an Account Coordinator and comes from a fun gaming background,” says Amiksha Patel, Director of Healthcare & Metrics Specialist at CKR Interactive.
Nancy Caputo is a result-driven marketing specialist and strategic manager of employer brands with a focus on internal and external communications with a specialty in healthcare. She has over 15 years of client account service experience including such accounts as Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, University of Michigan Health System, HCA Gulfcoast, and Oakwood Healthcare System. In addition, Nancy serves as the lead account team member for Nurses for a Healthier Tomorrow, which won the Silver Anvil public relations award for promoting nursing careers. She attended Davenport University and resides in Florida where she enjoys fishing and golf. “I am excited to be working for CKR Interactive and so happy to be working with a dedicated team of professionals who are supportive as I learn the new processes,” states Nancy.
Tania Samsonoff is a recent graduate of Santa Clara University with a major in Political Science. In her senior year of college she worked as a Promotions Coordinator at a small game publishing company. With her bright background and her willingness to learn, she will be a great asset to CKR Interactive. Tania states, “I am excited about working in recruitment advertising and getting to know the amazing people at CKR and our wonderful clients.”
CKR Interactive is pleased to welcome Nancy and Tania to its award-winning team, and is looking forward to a prosperous 2011 — for both its clients and the agency.
CAMPBELL, CA — Global recruitment marketing agency CKR Interactive welcomes their French counterpart, 4people. CKR's cross ownership effort, OneAgent adds a new face to the award winning group. 4people, a leading French recruitment marketing agency has joined up with CKR Interactive within the OneAgent Global network following a management buyout from the Omnicom Group.
"Now that we are independent, it makes sense for us to work with other like minded agencies on international business. The members of OneAgent are all highly creative, digitally led agencies who want to deliver a consistently great experience for clients anywhere in the world. There's a real spirit of collaboration and openness about the group that often doesn't exist in the large multi-national agencies," says President of 4people, Antoine Jeandet.
4people was voted 2010 Agency of the Year in the human resources category at France's premier advertising awards event, Les Agences De l'année. "It's a principle of OneAgent that every member has to be the best in class provider within their country or region. I'm confident that 4people meets that requirement and will further strengthen our proposition for multi-national clients," states Andrew Young who chairs the OneAgent network.
With offices all over the world, this addition of 4people will expand OneAgent's global grasp and create a wider understanding of the recruitment realm in the European market. CKR Interactive anticipates that this partnership will expand their network and enhance their ability to communicate globally. CKR's CEO, Curtis Rogers states, "we welcome 4people into our OneAgent family and hope that we can give as much as we can gain from this relationship. With their innovation and knowledge of the French market, we can learn a lot to generate better practices in our local agencies." Merci Beaucoup!
CAMPBELL, CA — In tumultuous times such as these, recruitment trends are constantly changing. The following details emerging trends and challenges global recruitment marketing agency CKR Interactive noted throughout 2010 that will play a large role in the 2011 recruitment realm. The ever-changing landscape can set the stage for new opportunities for those who take advantage.
Social media has become commonplace, if not a necessity, for productive recruitment. All workforce segments can now be found using social media and it’s clear that social media recruitment efforts should not be limited to Millennials, with all generations well represented. Additionally, social media has created a demand for personalized experiences. The job seeker is now more curious and the job platform is more interactive; the job seeker wants to know what’s in it for them. Leverage social media to build networks and talent pools instead of using it primarily as a source to generate applicants and responses to current job openings.
Mobile marketing has also come a long way from text messages. Market research firm Nielsen forecasts that smartphones — which were used by 21 percent of all wireless subscribers at the end of 2009 — will outnumber feature phones in the U.S. market by the end of 2011 and represent approximately half of all wireless subscribers. In another study by comScore Mobilens, adults 25 to 34 have the highest rates of smartphone penetration, followed by adults 35 to 44. Encourage mobile device users to connect quickly and easily by using mobile landing pages, talent network forms, barcodes and mobile-friendly career sites/microsites.
Economic challenges and layoffs have influenced low morale and an increased level of job dissatisfaction in employees. They are ready for a change. Employers should make sure to place emphasis on their retention efforts to keep top talent. Those looking to attract these experienced candidates should aim to engage these candidates and convert them to applicants through a more personalized recruitment experience.
Focus should also be placed back on diversity recruitment. This is an area that has been set aside because of the economy, but recent research shows that this strategy could be detrimental to a company and their employees, in both recruiting and retaining top talent.
“2010 was a fascinating year in terms of growth in technology and how it can be used to enhance recruitment efforts,” shared Curtis Rogers, CKR Interactive’s President and CEO. “We’re very much looking forward to what 2011 has in store for us, and are ready to help our clients make the most of these emerging trends.”
CAMPBELL, CA — It is awards season, and yet again global recruitment marketing agency CKR Interactive brings home another one. CKR Interactive was honored at the 2010 eHealthcare Leadership Awards for their exceptional work for Banner Health.
The eHealthcare Leadership Awards is a leading awards program that exclusively recognizes the very best web sites of healthcare organizations (both large and small), online health companies, pharmaceutical/medical equipment firms, suppliers, and business improvement initiatives. The awards presented highlight the Internet's role in achieving an organization's business objectives and recognize the hard work that has gone into creating outstanding health website.
For the eHealthcare awards, judges looked at how sites compared with others in their organization's classification. They also reviewed sites based on a proprietary multi-point standard of Internet excellence. The best overall Internet site category, for example, had to pass muster on more than 40 factors.
CKR Interactive exceeded the rigorous evaluation and won the Gold eHealthcare Leadership award for "Best Employee Recruitment" for Banner Health's rural recruitment site.
Director of Healthcare at CKR Interactive, Amiksha Patel says, "Banner Health's rural campaign was created because Banner's Western Region which was having major difficulty filling hard-to-fill positions in all of their rural locations. They did not have a specific website to focus on these rural locations and give them their own identity to brand them as choice places to live and work for prospect candidates, so CKR created this website for Banner Health to supplement that need."
"We are excited for CKR and Banner Health to win a gold award as we put in a lot of thought, research and time in creating this site and were very pleased with the final outcome as we did drive a lot of traffic to the site from our advertising campaigns and provided Banner Health with a lot of new leads from the site," she explains.
"The extensive debate on healthcare reform, combined with the need for increased efficiency in a challenging economy, has spurred digital media innovation," says Mark Gothberg, eHealthcare Leadership Awards chairman. "A substantial number of organizations have made major improvements in their websites to better serve current and future customers. Organizations are also embracing social networking, including blogs, Facebook, and Twitter, to reach consumers in new ways and generate concrete business. Mobile communications is also being pursued by a number of market leaders."
Gothberg also notes that improvements in Web sites were largely focused on enhancing visual interest, improving navigation and strongly highlighting key service lines. Use of rich media, such as video, audio and medical animations is now widespread.

Each year recruitment ad agencies and corporate recruiting departments from around the world enter their best creative advertising campaigns to be judged by marketing and human resource professionals.

(CKR Interactive for Biotech Client)
Craig Freitag, Vice President of Creative Services, talks about the fantastic Redefining Nursing Campaign, "When developing the creative for this project, CKR Interactive went through it's usual process of working backwards from first attracting the candidate to telling our clients unique selling point. Based on the competitive landscape, we designed a campaign that would stand out from their competitors." He added, "We were very pleased, as was the client, not only on the look of the campaign, but ultimately how effective it has turned out to be. We feel honored with being recognized by CEAs on our work."
Not only do the CEAs honor visual creativity, but also creativity in analysis. CKR Interactive was awarded first in the best research project category for their Banner Health PT Program Research. Kendra Van Nostran, Account Research Director at CKR Interactive, who had a huge part in creating this project said, "As an agency, we believe that research is often the only way to arrive at a customized solution that addresses all of the factors that influence the client's program. It's absolutely essential to effective communications planning."

CAMPBELL, CA — Global recruitment marketing agency CKR Interactive has compiled a list of 13 key signs to check if your employees are zombies. Studies have shown that this list is 97.3% accurate and if used properly with wit, common sense and CKR Interactive's full line of recruitment solutions, zombie-employees can be avoided.
To run a zombie-free office, here are the 13 signs you should watch out for:
- When walking by their desk, they have a blank glazed stare into the vast emptiness called a computer screen.
- When instructing him/her of the day's work all you get are nods and an empty stare.
- They leave a Tupperware container in the fridge filled with strange grey meat.
- Towards the end of the week the IT guy smells slightly worse than normal.
- Try firing them, I promise you they will bite.
- There are frequent, impromptu Thriller reenactments around the office.
- They have an odd hatred of plants.
- They have Christine O'Donnell bumper stickers on their cars. (Oops, that's a witch not a zombie)
- Everyone is terrified of the new girl, Alice, and her combat boots.
- When appointed a new assignment, they don't stop moaning and groaning.
- The only employee that is productive is Shaun from the sales department.
- Favorite musicians are Rob Zombie, The Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon and Kurt Cobain.
- Finally, when a zombie employee associates with a non-zombie employee, symptoms spread and intensify.

CAMPBELL, CA — Global recruitment marketing agency CKR Interactive has found that online video is not just for those who seek instant entertainment, as it has now crossed over to the recruitment realm. In an interview with Lynn Jusinsky from Advance, Kasey Sixt, the newly appointed Vice President of Branding and Social Media Initiatives, talks about the importance of online videos in the healthcare industry.
Kasey Sixt explains that through online video "you're able to capture the emotion and the passion behind a facility's mission, and for recruiting in the healthcare industry, let's face it, everyone who's come into healthcare has a higher calling." Sandy Asch, Principal of Alliance for Organizational Excellence, a San Diego-based consulting company, who was also interviewed backs up Sixt by stating that "it creates that instant emotional connection that somebody wouldn't get if they're reading text on a career website."
Online video can be an asset to a healthcare company's recruitment mix when used correctly. Kasey has some excellent pointers on how to approach creating an online video presence, "a lot of times people are just very intimidated by the process, but if you work with people who have done it and understand it and make it easy for you, it really does help bring your story to life." A recruitment marketing agency like CKR Interactive or a consulting firm with video knowledge and understanding of human resources and recruiting can be extremely beneficial in a company's recruitment efforts.
The use of video and social media in general as part of the recruitment marketing mix is on the rise for employers. According to Jobvite's 2010 Social Recruitment Survey conducted between May and June 2010, 46% of respondents plan to spend more on social recruiting in 2010 than 2009, and 83% of all respondents are now using or planning to use social media for recruiting in 2010 and beyond. Furthermore, according to Healthcare on Social Media News and ebennett.org, there was a 142% increase in the number of hospitals with YouTube channels between the end of 2009 and June 2010 – and the number is continuing to grow.
Sixt shares, "It's about telling your own story effectively, it's just identifying your advocates, identifying people who can really tell your story. The video should not include overly scripted individuals or people sitting down. People should be spontaneous and energetic; you want people to want to work for the company." Sixt adds, "You don't just stop with one corporate video. You're a growing company, ever-changing, and it's about keeping that content fresh."

CAMPBELL, CA — It's clear that social media is here to stay. Most employers agree that participation and monitoring the social media realm is essential to develop a voice and trust with potential candidates. However, many recruiters are stuck with trying to navigate this realm on their own, with no clear direction on how to overcome obstacles or how to utilize social recruiting solutions without letting it overwhelm their workload. Kasey Sixt, Vice President of Branding and Social Media Initiatives at the global recruitment marketing agency, CKR Interactive, will be presenting at this year's Onrec.com Expo to shed some light on the matter.
Sixt's session will provide recruiters with valuable information on how to get started with social recruiting, including how to work with executive management to get their buy in and remove obstacles such as blocked social networking sites, and will break down the common misconceptions in the social recruiting arena. Co-presenter Genentech will share their experience in launching their social recruiting and branding efforts, and how they worked with CKR Interactive to build a successful social media marketing program.
"The world of social media can be pretty overwhelming for a recruiter, with the ever-changing landscape of tools and best practices," shared Sixt. "My goal is to show how social recruiting can be fun, and what social media solutions are available to make a recruiter's life easier. Creating content and managing your online presence does not have to be as difficult as it seems!"
Sixt's presentation will be an excellent follow-up for those who have had the opportunity to attend one of her sessions before. She recently presented well-received knowledge sessions, including "The Power of Online Video and the Social Web" at the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) conference and "Video & the Social Web: A Powerful, Eco-Friendly and Cost-Effective Duo for Recruitment Communications & Employer Branding" at the Staffing Management Conference & Exposition hosted by Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM).
The Onrec event, which will be held September 14-16 in Chicago, will provide information and learning which sourcers, recruiters and HR practitioners can implement immediately – as well as support their organization's long-term staffing efforts. The conference sessions will offer expert insight into best practices, current trends, market influences, metrics, statistics and today's talent pool.
Those attending the event can stop by booth 413 to speak with Kasey Sixt, as well as CKR Interactive's Northeast Regional Manager, Steven Haworth, and Account Manager and international recruitment specialist, Michelle Ferreira.
CKR Interactive will also be exhibiting at upcoming industry events: The Pacific West HR Conference hosted by PIHRA (September 21-23 in Pasadena, CA, booth 519) and the ASHHRA Annual Conference and Exposition (September 25-28 in Tampa, FL, booth 803).

CAMPBELL, CA — Social media – two little words generating a whole lot of buzz. Most recruiters agree that social media is "the wave of the future" but just aren't sure where, or how to begin. Melyssa Bernstein, emerging media specialist and account executive at the global recruitment marketing agency, CKR Interactive, will be presenting at this year's NAHCR Image Conference to shed some light on the matter.
Bernstein's session, "Effective Recruiting with Social Media in 15 Minutes a Day", will walk healthcare employers through how to overcome the four key obstacles that keep healthcare recruiters from tapping into social media: access, time, where to start and what to do. Participants will see firsthand that a view of social media as being time consuming and difficult to use is really just a misconception.
"Whether you've embraced it or not, social media isn't going anywhere," Bernstein explains. "The recruitment model is changing to an interactive mode, and companies should become proactive online to engage their potential candidates."
After the session, attendees will know how to effectively work with their IT departments to ensure that recruiters have the access to social networking sites and technologies – both free and low cost – to streamline their efforts, get up and running with social recruiting quickly and efficiently, and maintain their online social media presence while leveraging the most effective guidelines and tips for social recruiting.
Bernstein adds, "My goal for this session is to help recruiters remove any fears, frustrations and misconceptions regarding social media. I'll help them learn how to develop a social media strategy with set goals whether the objective is to increase candidate flow, build a talent pool, increase brand awareness or all of the above, and then dive in knowing they're headed in the right direction."
The NAHCR Image conference will be held July 6-10 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada. Bernstein's session will be presented on Friday, July 9 from 11am-noon PST. CKR Interactive will be exhibiting at the event, booth #305 (attended by healthcare recruitment experts Amiksha Patel, Director of Healthcare, and Kristin Oravec, Account Manager), for those wishing to learn more about the agency's recruitment marketing services and solutions.

CAMPBELL, CA — Melyssa Bernstein, Emerging Media Specialist for global recruitment advertisement agency CKR Interactive, will be a panel moderator at the Kennedy/Onrec Online Recruitment Conference & Expo 2009, to be held at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, in Chicago on November 2-4, 2009.
The panel is entitled, "Corporate Career Sites: What Separates the Best from the Rest?" The focus will be on which career sites can be deemed truly innovative now that the lexicon of Web 2.0 technology, including widgets, dashboards, social media channels, SEO, and blogs, have become commonplace in corporate recruitment vernacular. The panelists will discuss companies that have gone beyond the typical corporate site accoutrements to craft a message that resonates with candidates.
"A career site is critical in today's market and really has become the hub of any recruitment program," Bernstein said. "The career site allows a company to convey who they are and how they work. Yahoo! takes engagement to a whole new level by inviting visitors into their Sandbox' to check out new products and provide feedback. The cutting-edge content gives candidates an idea of ongoing projects and a true sense of the culture."

CAMPBELL, CA — The chRONNIcle Courage team, which will walk in support of breast cancer patient Ronni Rogers at the 14th Annual Komen Miami/Ft. Lauderdale Race for the Cure®, has surpassed its initial fundraising goal in 48 hours using a range of social media platforms and tactics. The early success places the team among the top fundraising groups in the South Florida walk and has motivated them to more than double their original goal of $2,500 to $5,500.
Captain Georgia Dardick and her teammates used a variety of social media channels to let people know about chRONNIcle Courage and to drive supporters to the online donation page. Among the components, a Facebook group helped the team get the word out to friends, family and professional contacts, as well as provide status updates. All team members are also currently using the chRONNIcle Courage logo for their Facebook profile pictures. In addition, Rogers' 16-year old son started his own Facebook group for the cause, attracting 100 members in just three hours.
LinkedIn emails to professional contacts - some established more than 25 years ago - also generated donations, and additional social media efforts by Dardick connected her with people from the early days of her career at JWT Advertising (formerly known as J. Walter Thompson). It was at JWT that Dardick first met Rogers and began what would become a decades-long friendship. The two reunited professionally in 2003 to launch the East Coast operations for CKR Interactive, where Rogers is currently Executive Vice President.
Rounding out the social media effort, team members also tweeted about the event to their Twitter followers and sent text messages to contacts via their mobile devices.
"We were amazed that we were able to meet our fundraising goal so quickly," notes Dardick. "But even more amazing has been seeing the people who love Ronni unite in her support. It's truly a testament to the many lives she has touched over the years."

CAMPBELL, CA — CKR Interactive has developed a recruitment marketing plan for healthcare leader Banner Health that has not only brought in experienced candidates, but multiple awards as well. Specifically, the agency developed a multimedia campaign to help the Phoenix, Arizona-based healthcare system recruit top talent for its rural facilities. This campaign is tailored to promote the benefits of small town living, a local workplace and Banner Health's excellent employer brand, and address the hardships of healthcare recruiting in rural areas.
To create and launch the campaign, CKR Interactive did thorough research that included migration trends and demographics for all the various hard-to-fill positions at Banner Health, and crafted an entire media campaign that focused on drawing people to consider moving to a small town. CKR Interactive created a website specifically for this campaign, as well as a variety of print and rotating banner ads that focused on key selling factors of living in a small town. CKR Interactive then tracked the success of these ads using its media tracking product, Recruitment Media Metrics™, and found that the ads have brought in a large increase of site traffic.
These ads have received numerous awards, including HealthLeaders Media and Aster awards, and have also been found by the Ad-Q Studies division of Harvey Research, Inc. to be the best performing ads when competing against other recruitment-based ads in publications.
"We're very pleased with the performance of the "Small Town Living" campaign to date," explained Amiksha Patel, Director of Healthcare at CKR Interactive. "We'll continue to track the number of applications received and hired made from this campaign, in order to provide Banner Health with an analysis of the ROI and recommendations for future campaigns."

CAMPBELL, CA — CKR Interactive has been selected by several Adventist hospitals in Northern California to be the group's new recruitment advertising agency. The group of hospitals, all affiliates of Adventist Health, is comprised of St. Helena Hospital, St. Helena Hospital Clearlake, Frank R. Howard Memorial Hospital, and Ukiah Valley Medical Center. CKR Interactive was selected in a recent competitive review of several ad agencies. The agency was chosen to partner with the hospitals on all of their employment communications efforts, including employer branding, online and print advertising, direct mail, and internal communications such as a new employee referral program. With the shortage of qualified healthcare professionals in many areas that hospitals currently face, it is vitally important to choose a strategic advertising agency to help recruit a qualified workforce to the hospitals as the needs of the patient populations continue to grow.
"We're honored and thrilled to be chosen by these hospitals," commented Curtis Rogers, President of CKR Interactive. "Adventist Health has a long and rich history of serving their communities with the highest level of care, and we look forward to helping them attract, recruit, and retain outstanding employees to continue with their tradition of service. We currently work with several other Adventist Health affiliates, and now being selected by the group in Northern California really speaks to our agency's expertise in healthcare and our reputation of providing outstanding service to our clients."
"We chose CKR Interactive for several reasons: their creative capabilities and unique new ideas, our working relationship and past experience with the agency, and perhaps most importantly the fact that they truly understand Adventist Health's philosophy and faith-based culture," said Rick Dodds, Administrative Director of Human Resources at Ukiah Valley Medical Center. "It was evident that they did their homework on us and our competition and understand our recruitment needs. We look forward to a long partnership with CKR Interactive as they help us attract top talent to our hospitals in the area."
CAMPBELL, CA — CKR Interactive has launched its online employee referral program (ERP) solution Referral Max. CAMPBELL, CA — The Ad--Q Studies division of Harvey Research, Inc. announced in its Readership Study of the September 2008 issue of NURSEWEEK that an advertisement designed by CKR Interactive (www.ckrinteractive.com) had the best performance of all the ads placed in the issue. CKR Interactive designed the ad for its Phoenix, Arizona-based client, Banner Health, one of the largest nonprofit healthcare systems in the country. The ad was part of a multimedia recruitment marketing campaign launched and managed by CKR Interactive, which aimed to promote an open house event to recruit experienced nurses.
Ad--Q Studies conducted a Readership Study to find what portion of NURSEWEEK readers recalled seeing and reading each of the advertisements included in the September 2008 issue, and what portion of readers actively seeking employment recalled seeing and reading each of the ads. Banner Health's ad received the highest performance score, despite larger competing ads running more frequently. In fact, the advertisement received 33 more points than the ad with the second highest performance score.
"Really taking the time to know and understand our clients has probably been the biggest advantage to creating not only relevant and unexpected ads, but campaigns that drive the right people to seek employment with a particular client's company.
